Brown Rice for Healthier Life

What we eat determines the quality of our health. This time let’s discuss one of the most consumed staple food, especially for Indonesians, rice. Since we are just a kid we have been consuming white rice. It is not wrong. But sometimes we do not realize the processing quality of the rice we consumed.

Often times we see in the news, some rice sold in the market were processed by using whitening agent, for example. This is of course not good for health, right?

It is a different story if we consume organic white rice. The quality will definitely be better.

If we consume too much of white rice we will get too much calories intake. This is why if a person is consuming a lot of white rice, he/she will end up with obesity. This is due to the fact that white rice has quite a high content of carbohydrate.

So, what is the solution?

We can change our daily consumption of white rice with brown rice. Brown rice contains lower calories than white rice.

Brown rice also contains good natural fibers for our body, especially for our digestion. Eating a smaller serving of brown rice is equally filling as eating a normal serving of white rice.

In the beginning it may be hard for us to get used to consume brown rice. That’s fine, we can start consuming brown rice gradually.
